Yantai Tiezhongbao Steel Processing Co., Ltd has cut first steel for the leg structures of what it claims will be the world’s largest offshore wind turbine installation vessel with a lifting capacity of 3000 tonnes.
The 176-by-63-metre offshore wind turbine installation vessel, named Boreas, was ordered by Dutch offshore wind specialist Van Oord late last year, will be built for transporting and installing foundations and turbines.
